Norwich: Chatterbox sees rise in listeners in past year Norwich evening News 14th March 2025
A Norfolk non-profit radio station has seen a significant increase in listener numbers this year.
Chatterbox, a talking newspaper for the blind and vision-impaired based in Norwich, revealed the rise at its annual meeting on Wednesday.
The charity provides a weekly round-up of Norwich-based news and features.
Listener figures now exceed 750 a week, with online demand surpassing memory stick recordings for the first time.
Outgoing chair Roger Ryan, speaking at Vision Norfolk in Norwich, highlighted the year's achievements and the need to cater to younger audiences while still meeting the needs of older listeners.
He said: "Evolution, not revolution, that’s our mantra."
The annual meeting is not just about official business and reports.
It is also an opportunity for listeners, volunteers, and supporters to share their views and show appreciation for the charity's many volunteers.
Chatterbox records newspaper and magazine content for people who are blind or vision-impaired and provides its services free of charge.
